Nuke Particles : Why can't particles have all the fun? I am terrified of roller coasters so I made my particles had the ride instead :p. I tried to used the same method that STmap in Nuke does and coded a geometry-based surface flow for Nuke particles.. now I can think of so many flows to try 😂 😍 . I have trouble filling my weekends actually! 😒 so another lame post!

Spent a good time of evening learning how to code Nuke particles to follow a user defined path and keep the particles from escaping the cage of any radius of my choosing. I have only coded this to follow a simple path first i.e it has a start and an end point, my next goal is to convert this to a complex path consisting of multiple segments and complex shapes so the particles can move in any user drawn 3D path and keep inside the cage throughout the journey.

Watched Mandalorian S3 , thought of spending the evening trying this effect from episode 5. Bunch of cards , roto , noise , smoke and a geo in Nuke . Simple does the job! 🙂

ASCII Art with Nuke - A couple of months back I saw a ASCII generator done by someone in Python inside Nuke here on LinkedIn , which was super cool and I really wanted to try this myself one day. I don't have the patience to dive in python on my weekends and since I am more comfortable with Particles and blink script , I decided to try it using Nuke particles. Apparently its easy to setup and requires just three lines of code in an expression node. 15 min job!! Sweet sweet result 😁

Late Night Nuke Fun! Had a bit of time to kill these holidays , so just dived in finding new ways of using Nuke's very own 2d Perlin noise node , decided to create a electric lightning study which is kind of inspired from Steven Knipping Applied Houdini training. A bit of head banging, some googling , 50 odd Nuke crashes(blink script is super finicky) and finally a "aha" moment with a smile at 12 am in the night LOL! . I know there are already great tools for generating lightning for nuke but wanted to create myself with Nuke particles. A few more 100 lines of code and I shall be able to create lightning branches too. 😁

Some late night Nuke Fun :) . One of the things I really want is a major update to Nuke particle systems and maybe a Houdini like VOP context interface to explore different fx looks right inside a compositing software without manually writing much code LOL. Tried some Star Trekkish effect with Nuke particles after work :D. Some linear algebra and blink script to take the boredom away :)

#weekend scripting study! Tried a little effect with Nuke particles from my favourite show, The Orville . I was watching an episode last week and saw this Force field interaction with a shuttle in that episode and decide to try that in Nuke. Little did I know , I will have to spend a good part of my day learning about Transformation matrices and how to compose a full 4X4 transformation matrix in blink script, since I had no way to get my particles to move and rotate along with my ship's animation. All in all good exercise and got to re-learn some high school math as well on a sunday, not my favourite subject though :D.

#Nuke Scripting. Trying to practice more scripting by the week. This time tried to create a very rudimentary lightning effect in Nuke. It's pretty rough and I need to do it again properly by reworking the math and code as I am losing particle density later in the frames. Hopefully can add more bolts in the same particle's setup too, but really loved making this.
